Wayne Towne has been involved with Camp Waupaca since the mid-1950s. He has held many roles including trip director, rifle instructor, and maintenance, but he is best known as a master story teller. At the request of the Big Chief, Wayne has put pen to paper and written several stories and rememberances of Camp Waupaca.
All stories presented here are Wayne Towne's personal recollections and may not represent the feelings of all readers. The Camp Waupaca Reunion Group does not take any responsibility for the factual accuracy of these stories.
Thank you, Wayne Towne! Enjoy reading!
P.S. Here is a picture of trees at the Horseshoe. What does this have to do with Wayne Towne? Trees in the cabin and horseshoe areas had been dying off for years and there was no shade left at the horseshoe. Wayne transplanted trees that he found behind the Near Diamond into the horseshoe area and this is the result. Well done, Wayne!
